JUNE BLUM’S ‘LINE’

Drop me a line ; in the line of duty; throw me a line; on line; line of convergence; straight line; follow that line; neck line; get on the first line; don’t give me that line; hem line; pencil line; draw that line; what a line; walk the line; hair line; grab on to that line; life line; eye line; stay in line; clothes line; water line.

June Blum has been painting black and white linear paintings since the 60’s. Although non objective in appearance, they hold, in line , the art world of experience and nderstanding.

Blum’s art is complex works with beautiful variations of color through black and white. Blum does not work in the style of established artists, but was influenced by de Kooning’s work, and the diversity of artists such as Picasso.

June Blum, artist and former museum curator, was awarded the Medal of Honor in 2003, for her advancement of the study of women in the arts, and, acknowledged by the National Museum of Women in the Arts.
